Decoding learning report

Hi all! This is my personal response to the Decoding Learning report from this weeks learning path.
Description
This innovation is a website called ‘Ideas to inspire’. It is an interactive site that allows teachers to discover useful ideas in order to engage students in lesson through the use of games activities quizzes and more. My own thoughts about the innovation are all pretty good. The site is very straight forward and provides hundreds of helpful ideas to implement into any subject area.
Context
For example if I were to use this innovation in my own year 8 English class I would chose to show the students the interactive PowerPoint called ‘inspiring writing’. This clever use of ICT provide the students with a more visual way of learning how to write which is exciting. The PowerPoint asks the students to make their own superhero and explain what super powers do they have and do they have a sidekick. This instantly makes writing more fun because it allows the students to think about what they like and how much easier is it to write about something you like!
Why
This helps student learning because it is a more interactive way to practice writing. The use of this ICT makes writing more enjoyable for the students because they are engaged through pictures and audio which is important because a lot of students are visual learners these days.
Check out the site where I got this information for useful ideas for your teaching practice >>> http://www.ideastoinspire.co.uk/

My mind map!

Hi everyone! got to this link >>> href=”https://tahliakay.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/ict-mind-map1.jpg”>ict mind map!

Here you can see my concept map that I have developed. I am still in the process of further expanding on my ideas of ICT and pedagogy to enhance students learning within the classroom 🙂

So far I have developed some reasons why I think ICT should be used they are as follows:

1. From the start of this course we are all probably familiar with the ‘BIG THREE’
2. ICTs allows pupils to gather data
3. ITCs allows pupils to draft their work until they are happy
4. By implementing ICTs within the classroom allows for great organization for the teacher and takes up less space
5. You can access ICTs at home and at school
6. It is more engaging for the students because technology is exciting!
7. Parents can keep up to date with their children’s progress

If anyone else has any more suggestions feel free to contribute !

8 themes of ICT

When reading through the 8 themes of using ITC in Pedagogy I decided that the best or most important one to me at this point in time is learning through exploring. This theme interests me the most because the use of ICT in the 21st century is what helps the students adapt and explore. Whether that be through the use of the computers, surfing the web, blogging, finding resources online and sharing with these finding with the teacher and other students.

When students use ICT as a learning tool in the classroom they are inquiring and researching. This can help them identify information and data in order to plan, locate and access and retrieve information to use for they assessments, exams etc. By learning through the exploration of ICT Students will be better organized and be able to understand more about specific subject areas and keep up with the ever changing technology.

The amazing Maria Montessori !

I believe a lot of theory’s but this particular theory is from Maria Montessori. Montessori believed that through self-activities children learnt and developed best. Her opinions align with mine as she is a strong advocate of individual needs and interests and focuses on a child centered education based on all children needing to learn differently. Every individual is different and therefore they will learn different, teachers need to understand this and be able to adjust accordingly to each student in order for the student to reach their full potential.

first weeks back

After working through the first few of this course again!.. I now have an even better understanding of what to expect in the coming weeks. I have discovered what worked well was the whole process of creating this blog, Feedly and Diigo and what didn’t work was my internet connecting! haha so it took me a lot longer than I first anticipated. However with a little fiddling with my internet connection I was back on track in no time. So far I feel a little overwhelmed but excited about this semester ahead in EDC3100 and looking forward to some new challenges 🙂

PKM! and how i understand it….

To me PKM is all about the need to focus on knowledge, work productivity and to gain a better understand of an individuals knowledge processes.

I now understand that PKM is all about seek – sense – share. I found it interesting looking at this post >> http://jarche.com/2014/03/what-is-your-pkm-routine/ that was given to us on the EDC3100 study desk and from reading this I understand that ‘personal’ is the biggest part of PKM for me.This is because everyone is different and everyone works or understands at a different rate.

My personal process works like this:
•Firstly I like to Capture the knowledge, which means I like to find and identify.
•Secondly I try to develop this knowledge that I have discovered meaning to make sense of it and than begin to think critically about it.
•lastly this is where the sharing comes in. So Sharing the knowledge by using a variety of different medias that are used in our every days lives such as Diigo, Feedly and WordPress which I am now familiar with 🙂

If anyone shares a similar process to me let me know! Thanks.

Round 2!

well I am back! too all new students doing this ict course this is actually my second time. I was enrolled in this course last semester and due to some issues had to late withdraw, witch really sucked as I only had the last assessment to complete! But oh well I am back this semester to complete the whole course.

Knowing what majority of the course is about already gives me such a weight off my shoulders however! and that way can relax a little and focus on my other courses. That doesn’t mean I should slack off though because this course is definitely one you have to put a lot of time into for all you newbies 🙂 but in the end you will really feel like you have achieved something. Good luck all!

Just some info

After writing my justification for assessment 2 I found a lot of insightful information from the Australian curriculum and other resources.
I found that The Australian curriculum recognises that Critical and creative thinking are essential to developing understanding in English through effective use of ICTs. Students employ critical and creative thinking through analysis of texts and through the exploration and creation of their own written, visual and multimodal texts that require imagination and innovation.
From this statement I decided that Critical and creative thinking and personal social capabilities are important aspects for students to be successful learners.

Another one bites the dust

I am pleased to say that I have now completed and submitted my assessment 2 for EDC3100! Only one more assessment for the year and professional experience to go. When saying I only have one assessment left I mean that as in this course. As I am studding full time at the moment I still have 4 assessments and 1 quiz to go over all. Which isn’t too bad!
I feel as though assessment 2 of EDC3100 has given me confidence in attending Prac in the coming weeks. This is because I feel it has prepared me for some possible ICT lessons that I may be able to deliver to the student.
I don’t know if anyone else is in this situation but I am still waiting to see where I have been placed, so I am still excited to find out 
